Shadows of Hong Kong
A middle-aged smuggler and dealer on the Kai Tak Black Market, Stephen Wu is an interesting man. He is uninterested in expanding his little empire, he just wants to hold onto what he already has. He’s small enough now that the Triad takes its cut, but does not concern itself much with the minutia of his dealings.
Generally Mr. Wu has a bunch of young street rats in his employ. It’s a mutually beneficial arrangement; they get food, a warm place to sleep, pocket money, and a fair amount of freedom, while he gets cheap workers that respect him, and on occasion become personally loyal to him. These young employees tend to either move on after a couple years or become part of his long-term crew.
